Landmark Victorian Mansion Restoration Projects

Since 1978, Dr. Rodney Karr has been involved in the landmarks preservation movement. He was an active member in San Francisco Victorian Alliance, the Alamo Square Neighborhood Association, and the Western Addition Historical Association. He has devoted much of his life to his interest in Victorian Architecture, studying it in depth, and has restored three landmark mansions in San Francisco. The Charles Hinkel House and Carriage House at 280 Divisadero Street, the Jackson Kreiling Mansion 1057 Steiner Street (Chateau Tivoli), 1476-1482 Golden Gate Avenue. He is currently involved in the process of landmarking the Samms/Dalton/Cooper mansion in West Oakland, 1450 8th Street, West Oakland. He is seeking investors in order to purchase and restore this mansion as offices for non-profit organizations especially those devoted to the arts.
